Giant bronze Buddha in Mt. Sorak National Park.
The giant bronze Buddha as mentioned above.
We only saw this Buddha because the third of the famous waterfalls in the national park was inaccessible. We had hoped to see all three, but the trail stopped, and some Korean shook their head and gesticulated wildly when we pointed at the name of the third waterfall. Disappointed we vent back to the entrance, where we saw this Buddha.
On our way we passed an old lady who was selling candy on a stick. It's like honey and caramel and it seems to be very popular among the Koreans.
These poor people you meet almost everywhere. Some sells candy, others, postcards, peanuts or the most disgusting thing on earth, silkworm soup. You can smell it more than a hundred meters away, and I felt sick every time I passed one of the small booths where it vas sold. I never understood why the Koreans queued at those places. I'm sure that I would bee sick for days, if I passed within 5 meters of it.
