Marco Polo Bridge.
Marco Polo published this bridge, and today it is known as Marco Polo Bridge. It is 260 meters long and there are 250marble balustrades supporting 485 carved stone lions.
Emperor Qianlong wrote some poetic tracts about Beijing's scenic wonders. His Morning Moon Over Lugou Bridge is now engraved into stone tablets and placed on steles next to the bridge.
This bridge was one of the important roads to Beijing when the Japanese attacked and occupied the city in 1937. After that day it was named it Peking. Only a few hundred meters away you find the anti Japanese war museum.
