Glenfinnan viaduct.
The area surrounding the Glenfinnan Monument and the nearby railway viaduct has often been used for location filming, most recently in the Harry Potter movies.

Described as one of the great railway journeys of the world this 84 mile round trip takes you past a list of impressive extremes. It starts near the highest mountain in Britain (Ben Nevis), visits Britain's most westerly mainland railway station (Arisaig), then passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain (Loch Morar), and the shortest river in Britain (River Morar) and finally arrives next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe - Loch Nevis.

In the years up to 1901, Sir Robert McAlpine took on a huge civil engineering challenge with the building of the West Highland Extension Railway. One of the largest structures on the railway is the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This is 380 meters long and made up of 21 arches, the tallest of which is 30 meters high. What is less obvious from a distance is that the viaduct is also curved, leading the track round the head of the River Finnan valley.
